10 Seva is not a business. There are no fees, no payables, no profit. Every hour of labour, every dollar, every material is donated by people who choose to give 10% of what they have.
Not a business. Not a contractor. An organization built to do whatever the community needs — projects, ongoing initiatives, events, services. Local, regional, global.
No fees. No payables. Nothing collected by the organization itself. Anything 10 Seva touches, it touches without taking.
Every member who works with 10 Seva commits 10% of themselves — their time, their materials, their skills, their money — to the work and to the cause.
Every contract, every donation, every payment that does happen — posted openly. The sangat sees everything.
Most organizations take a cut. 10 Seva does the opposite — everyone who participates puts a share in. That is the math that makes free work possible.
A few hours a month on site, in the kitchen, doing paperwork, organizing logistics — your hours are the most valuable thing you can give.
You're an electrician, designer, accountant, engineer, cook, driver — a piece of what you do well, applied to a community project.
Lumber, tile, fixtures, tools, equipment — pieces of what your business already moves, contributed to the work.
A donation, large or small. Tracked and reported back so you know exactly where it landed.
10 Seva does not assume every contractor or trade can afford to donate. That would be unfair.
If you'd like to bid on a scope and get paid for your work — that is welcome. If you'd like to donate part or all of it — also welcome. The choice belongs to each person and business. Both paths fund the same project. Both paths are honoured the same way.
Quote for the work as you would any commercial project. Paid in full from the project fund.
Donate labour, materials, or time toward your scope. Your contribution is logged in the transparency report.
The Langar Hall is the start. The bigger idea is a network of businesses — electricians, architects, suppliers, designers, mechanics, restaurateurs, lawyers — who commit to the same 10% and to each other.
"Capitalism trained us to see strangers as competitors. The 10 Seva network exists to remind each other that we're neighbours."
When members work, they pull other members in. They refer, recommend, and build with each other. Connections form. A real community — not a market — takes shape. That is the long game.
10 Seva itself charges nothing — ever.
Time, skill, materials, or money.
Paid work has a fair, open path.
Every dollar in and out, posted.
Built to last generations — no corner cutting.
Anyone in the sangat can ask, audit, or weigh in.
